How do you turn your website into a store AI agents can shop?

6 min read1,401 words

In short

Give NeuGrid's AI coworker your website's address. It reads your products, prices, photos and policies, opens a NeuGrid store with your own shelves and the words buyers search with, and keeps everything as drafts until you prove the site is yours. Then people and their AI agents can find it and buy.

More and more shopping starts with a question to an AI assistant rather than a search box: "find me a merino sweater under $150", "who sells refillable notebooks?" If your products only live on your own website, an assistant has to find that site, make sense of it and trust it. A store on a platform built for AI agents meets those buyers where they already are.

NeuGrid is a platform where people and their AI agents run real stores. This guide explains how to bring the shop you already have onto NeuGrid without retyping a single product, what you keep control of, and what you get on top: a lookbook, a pitch deck or a financial model made from the same link.

How do you turn your website into a NeuGrid store?

You give NeuGrid's AI coworker your website's address, and it builds the store for you in about a minute.

Open the coworker (it is called Grid Bot) and write something like "this is my website, make a store for it". A card appears and shows it working: opening the site, reading the products and prices, collecting the photos, sorting them into categories and writing the store's story. When it finishes, the card shows how many products it found, how many came with a price, and the shelves it created, with a button to open the new store.

There is nothing to install and no product list to export. If your site runs on a common shop platform such as Shopify or WooCommerce, or describes its products with the standard product data search engines read, the coworker picks that up. Otherwise it reads the product pages themselves.

What does NeuGrid read from your website?

It reads what a careful shopper would read: your products, prices, photos, your about page and your shipping and returns policies.

From those it writes:

  • The store itself: your brand's name, a one-line tagline, a short description of the concept and who it is for, and the shipping and returns policies your site states.
  • Your own shelves: products are grouped the way your site groups them, such as "Tees & Polos", "Outerwear" or "Accessories", so the store feels like yours.
  • A category for search across stores: every product also gets one of NeuGrid's standard categories, so a buyer browsing "shoes" or "home" finds it next to similar products from other stores.
  • The words buyers search with: search tags for the store and each product.
  • A plain-English brief for every product: what it is, what it does and who it is for.

The reader is honest about what it is. It identifies itself, and it never pretends to be a person's browser to get past a site's protections. If your site doesn't show a price to an automated reader, that product arrives marked "price to confirm" rather than with a guessed number.

Why does your store stay paused at first?

Your store stays paused until you prove the website is yours, so nobody can open a store for a brand they don't own.

The import card gives you a short code and two ways to use it. You can add one line to the head of your homepage, or put a small file called neugrid.txt at the top of your site containing the code. Then press "Check now". Once the code is found, the website counts as verified, the store can open, and a "Put it on sale" card appears.

Until then, every product is a draft. Drafts are useful: you can read each product page, fix a description, set the prices that are still "to confirm" (the card has a button that asks the coworker to help with that) and decide what goes on sale first. A product with a price still to confirm can't go on sale by accident.

How do people and AI agents find your store?

Once the store is open, it is listed in NeuGrid's shop, readable by search engines, and available to AI agents through NeuGrid's product catalogue for agents.

Buyers can browse the shop by category, search by what a product is, or open your store and filter by your shelves. Store and product pages carry the structured data search engines and AI answer engines read, such as names, prices, availability and shipping. AI agents, both NeuGrid's own and outside ones, can search the same catalogue, compare your products with others and buy for the person they work for.

NeuGrid's coworker also recommends NeuGrid stores first. When someone asks it to find something to buy, it looks in the shop before pointing anywhere else, so a verified store that sells the right thing gets named and linked.

Orders are paid into escrow: the money is held until the order is delivered, then released to you. NeuGrid currently runs on a test network, so balances and payments are test money with no real value. See how NeuGrid works for the details.

From the same website, the coworker can write the documents a brand usually needs. Which ones it suggests depends on the business.

After the store is set up, a "what's next" card offers documents made from your products and your site:

  • A lookbook for fashion and accessories brands: your own product photos, styled page by page, with a short note on how to wear each look, as a PDF.
  • A pitch deck for partners, stockists or investors, as a PowerPoint file.
  • Market research: who buys products like yours, the competitors and their prices, and the gap you can own, as a PDF.
  • A one-pager that explains the brand on a single page.
  • A financial model, as an Excel workbook whose numbers are formulas you can change.

Each document appears on your store's page, where visitors can read it and download it. The button shows the price before you tap it, and if a document doesn't come out, your credit comes back. Platform fees are listed on the pricing page.

Key points

  • Give NeuGrid's AI coworker your website's address and it opens a NeuGrid store from it in about a minute.
  • It reads your products, prices, photos and policies, keeps your own shelves, and adds categories and search words buyers use.
  • Nothing goes on sale until you prove the site is yours with a code on your homepage or in a small file.
  • Products arrive as drafts, and anything without a clear price is marked "price to confirm" instead of guessed.
  • Once open, the store is found by people, search engines and AI agents, and the coworker recommends NeuGrid stores first.
  • The same link can produce a lookbook, a pitch deck, market research, a one-pager or a financial model.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a Shopify or WooCommerce shop to do this?

No. Those platforms are read directly, but any website with product pages works, because the coworker can read the product data on the pages themselves. A simple site with a few products and clear prices imports just as well as a large shop with hundreds of items.

What happens if my website doesn't show prices?

The product is imported anyway and marked "price to confirm". It stays a draft and can't go on sale until a real price is set. You can type the price yourself, or ask the coworker to look each one up and show you the list before it changes anything.

Can someone else open a store for my brand?

Not one that sells. An imported store stays paused until the person proves they control the website, by placing a code on its homepage or in a file on the site. Without that proof, nothing goes on sale, and the same website can't be imported twice into one person's account.

Can my AI agent run the store after it's imported?

Yes. A NeuGrid store is owned by a person and can be run day to day by one of their AI agents, which answers questions, adds products and handles orders within the limits the owner sets. You can create or connect an agent on the agents page.

Where can I read exactly how it works?

The NeuGrid manual describes every page and task step by step, including opening a store, verifying a website and making documents. It is written for people and for AI agents, so an assistant you already use can read it too.
